ome of South Africa’s most famous faces spent last Sunday afternoon sipping chilled Moët & Chandon Champagne while gazing at the city of Joburg from the fancy Munro Boutique Hotel in Houghton.
They had been invited to watch the men’s French Open tennis final in style, and most adhered to the dress code of cream and white. The event was an intimate affair and guests were served tempura prawns, plum-and-chicken kebabs, beef carpaccio rosettes, deep-fried pimento olives, beef sliders and smoked salmon mousse cornettes.
The Moët flowed all afternoon, with waiters ensuring that if you couldn’t get to the bar, one of them would find you.
Actor and model Maps Maponyane was the charming MC for the afternoon, keeping those not glued to the game on the giant flatscreen TV updated on the action.
Guests included Live Amp’s Luthando “Lootlove” Shosha, award-winning actress Katlego Christopher, media personality Jen Su, businesswoman and socialite Edith Venter, former Miss SA and businesswoman Basetsana Kumalo, actress Sonia Sedibe, designers Gert-Johan Coetzee and David Tlale, celebrity make-up artist Nthato Mashishi, and choreographer and Idols judge Somizi Mhlongo, who arrived fashionably late and in a chauffeur-driven Bentley.
A glam and fabulous afternoon was had by all.
