FNB enters the network fray
Things really started hotting up in the fiercely competitive mobile-data arena this past week as First National Bank (FNB) announced the launch of its own dedicated cellphone network.
Speculation has been rife over the past three years about whether FNB would acquire Cell C, which has been sinking deeper into financial debt (latest figures show more than R2 billion in unsecured debt), but for now at least, FNB is simply partnering with the mobile operator, which will “host” the network.
