Sparkling wine brand JC Le Roux invited a handful of lucky Joburgers to its winter solstice soirée on Saturday night.

Guests were given free Uber rides to and from the event, meaning they were free to enjoy the many flutes of bubbly without worrying about breaking the law driving home.

The dress code was winter chic and guests were hosted at the Levelthree venue in Kramerville outside Sandton. They were serenaded by a violinist upon arrival, a laser show and a performance by pop artist Chiano Sky.

The event was held not only to celebrate the longest night of the year in the southern hemisphere, but to launch the popular brand’s new limited edition Winter Solstice Collection of wines.

Guests had the opportunity to get up close and personal with, and sip on, the new collection while they nibbled on yummy sugary treats and desserts and viewed the Joburg skyline. A handful of famous faces attended the event. Among them were actors Atandwa Kani, Diaan

Lawrenson, Jody Abrahams, rugby player Robbie Coetzee, SABC2 news anchor Louise van Wingerden and YFM DJ Ayanda Mdluli. It was a glamorous way to spend a cold Jozi Saturday evening.
