Amplats erred in destroying school

CityPress - - Voices - Tom Mhlanga Johannesburg, Gauteng

dismayed to read that mining giant Amplats closed down a school in Limpopo because it was built on company property. The school was not built by Amplats, but by the community.

Why did such a big company, that should actually be supporting the school, choose to shut it down without compensation?

The fact that the school was built on company property is not important.

Amplats should have done something when it initially discovered the school was being built, instead of allowing the community to proceed with the plan.

The education and the future of children in the community should be a priority.

I believe Amplats should invest in the school and not destroy it.
