Early in the morn­ing, the mine work­ers met at Won­derkop Sta­dium and started march­ing to Lon­min Plat­inum Di­vi­sion of­fices. Lon­min bosses called the po­lice, ask­ing for

the Public Or­der Polic­ing Unit to deal with the march, and told the mine work­ers they would not speak

to a “face­less” crowd that had no union rep­re­sen­ta­tion, and that they should go back to work. There were also re­ports that non-strik­ing mine

work­ers were be­ing in­tim­i­dated.
