The name’s Zuma

Gauteng ANC chairperson Paul Mashatile has a way of putting his foot in it, especially where President Jacob Zuma is concerned. So he has to justify anything he says about him.

As he introduced Zuma at the ANC Women’s League gig last week, Mashatile first decided to tell a story about Mandela.

He said Mandela once met three women who were happy to see him. Only later did one of them ask: “By the way, who are you?” So, according to Mashatile, he was not going to assume that everyone knew Zuma, in case someone later asked the president: “By the way, who are you?”
