Lots and lots of chocolate

Though it was quietly opened about two weeks ago, the new Lindt & Sprüngli South Africa chocolate boutique hosted an intimate shindig to announce its arrival at the Sandton City shopping centre. Unlike the recent trend we’ve seen with brands launching pop-up stores, this is a permanent shop. That means lovers of the Swiss chocolate brand will be able to visit the store again and again.

The event was hosted by radio DJ Fikile Fix Moeti. Guests were spoilt rotten, nibbling on fancy desserts from Lindt chefs. Sorbet was on hand to give manis and pedis, while the more serious chocolate eaters could get involved with the chocolate and wine pairing while checking out the Lindt chocolate works of art on display.

The highlight of the evening, after the brief formalities were concluded, was when those on the exclusive guest list had the opportunity to fill their Lindt bags with Lindor balls from the large trough in the centre of the shop. This was met with much laughter and excitement.

Some of the guests at the launch included actor and model Maps Maponyane, actress Tango Ncetezo, model and actress Boity Thulo, musician Zakes Bantwini and actress Tarina Patel, who wore a beautiful floorlength red dress. Celebs were given a personalised, handmade Lindt clock or watch, in addition to all the other goodies. It was a fab affair. The store is on the lower level of Sandton City, between Woolworths and Clicks.
