Self-proclaimed North God and rapper Da Les launched his third studio album at The Venue in Melrose Arch, Joburg, on Thursday night, and it turned out to be quite a spectacle. The North God concert treated fans to a night of South African hip-hop, with performances by the man himself, and a stellar line-up of support acts.

It has been a year since his last album, Mandela Money, and the hip-hop landscape needed a little freshening up, so who better than Mr Fresh2Def himself ?

He was joined on stage by fellow rapper AKA, with whom he has enjoyed a long-standing creative partnership. The entertaining duo performed P.A.I.D, the first single off the album.

MC at the Cîroc-sponsored evening was MTV VJ Nomuzi Mabena, and guests included her fellow Cashtime Life associates, Ma-E and Kid X. BoyznBucks were represented by Riky Rick, who lit up the stage. Heavyweight lyricist Tumi from the Volume was also around and ensured the evening had some soul to it. DJs Milkshake and Dimples were on the mic.

The next single from the album, 6am, with Mabena and Ma-E is sure to have devoted fans bumping to the beat.

This album promises to provide the perfect soundtrack for the festive season.
