Clinic provides tape to measure penises
A Swedish clinic is dishing out special measuring tape so that men can measure the size of their penises.
The clinic, in the Scandinavian country’s capital, Stockholm, is trying to combat the declining use of condoms, Metro.co.uk reported this week.
Staff at the clinic are hoping that by measuring their members, young men can be encouraged to buy condoms that are the correct size for them. The measuring tape – which has been specifically designed to measure how thick their penises are – was handed out for free.
A male nurse at the clinic, Eddie Sandstrom, told the news website: “A common reason for a condom slipping off or breaking during sex is that you’ve bought the wrong size. You have to measure the circumference of the penis when erect, not the length.
“On our measuring tape, you get the measurement in millimetres and a few recommendations for condom types that are suitable.”
Levels of the sexually transmitted disease gonorrhoea are increasing in Sweden, and levels of chlamydia are not falling, despite a number of awareness campaigns.
