Mandela, My Dad and Me History (DStv Channel 186) Sunday, 8.30pm Twitter had a field day when movie hunk Idris Elba didn’t get into South Africa for his trip to promote his new show, Mandela, My Dad and Me. Apparently his 14-year-old daughter didn’t have the required unabridged birth certificate needed to enter SA. Nevertheless, the documentary airs tonight. In 2014, Elba produced and released mi Mandela, an album inspired by his time researching and portraying Nelson Mandela in the movie Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom. But before Elba left to record the album in South Africa, his father passed away. Mandela, My Dad and Me not only documents one man’s struggle to produce his first album, but his emotional quest to pay tribute to two inspirational men. – Grethe Koen
