The local style scene has been great all year round and we’ve seen more great fashion than bad. Taking a look at those who slayed at every occasion, from awards shows to horse racing days, Gugulethu Mhlungu rounds up a few of our best-dressed local person

1 BONANG MATHEBA Media personality Bonang Matheba continued her red carpet slay this year. Fabulous outfits included her white L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate jumpsuit, her stunning canary-yellow Vodacom Durban July dress (pictured), her cerise Metro FM fishtail gown, her black, embellished jumpsuit at the MTV Africa Music Awards and her fairy tale wedding dress for the SA Style Icon Awards. 2 TERRY PHETO Film producer, actress and businesswoman Terry Pheto has a simple and sophisticated red carpet style. She does the glam gown like we saw with her purple David Tlale dress at the Joburg launch of the film Ayanda, her glamorous all-black Erre Fashion look for the International Emmy Awards and her Quiteria & George ensembles on SA’s red carpets. 3 THEMBI SEETE Thembisile Seete is gorgeous and her clothes are on point. She has a great working relationship with a design label called Scalo, which makes her wonderful garments and ensembles. Her slay is a joy to watch. 4 NOMZAMO MBATHA Actress Nomzamo Mbatha has emerged as a consistently stylish someone. She’s had a big moment with capes this year and her mustard-yellow SA Style Award ensemble was very pretty. She can move from the red carpet stuff – as we saw with her sexy purple and lace Feather Awards outfit and the piece she wore to the premiere of her film Tell Me Sweet Something – to more ready-towear ensembles. 5 NHLANHLA NCIZA Mafikizolo’s Nhlanhla Nciza has always been a fashion slayer. The relaunch of her label, NN Vintage, meant we saw her in the most beautiful and coveted tutus from her fashion line. Nciza does African prints in a refreshing way and also does the red carpet-glam-gown look with ease.
