Perfect weddings? Hmm

Our Perfect Wedding Mzansi Magic (DStv channel 161) Sunday, 7pm #Trending has a love-hate relationship with Our Perfect Wedding. At first, we loved it because it was a hilarious, original, home-brewed reality show that set Twitter alight and spawned many memes. Then we hated it because the producers chose to feature a statutory rapist in an episode in season five before going on to upset gay viewers in the season finale.

Nevertheless, the show is pushing on, and season six hits our screens tonight.

This time we’ll see actress, singer and writer Thembisa Mdoda as the new host. – Grethe Koen

Planet’s Got Talent M-Net (Dstv channel 101) Thursday, 6.30pm Britain’s Got Talent is one of the most successful shows in TV history and has spawned formats in dozens of countries, including our own.

Now, actor and presenter Warwick Davis hosts this compilation of the most spectacular acts from the franchise’s competitions globally.

Planet’s Got Talent presents clips from countries as far afield as Cambodia and Chile, including the one in which a Korea’s Got Talent contestant rubbed wasabi and lemons in his eyes and an Indonesia’s Got Talent hopeful washed himself in boiling soup.

Expect back-flipping dogs, singers, dance troupes, magicians and acrobats – just to prove that our planet is really brimming with talent (and people quite willing to risk pain and humiliation on stage). – Grethe Koen
