Course content First year:
Basic foundation of biology, chemistry, physics and mathematics.
Students take modules in genetics, chemistry and forensic science, which includes an introduction to forensic science, crime scene investigation, forensic photography and legal aspects of the career.
Students will have various elective subjects in genetics or chemistry. They are also required to complete advanced modules in forensic science, physical evidence, forensic entomology and DNA forensics.
PayScale states that forensic pathologists earn a median salary of R16 800 a month, ranging from R11 500 to R32 600.
