The work of a young Ghana­ian artist has been get­ting a lot of at­ten­tion on so­cial me­dia, with thou­sands of clicks and shares. Beau­ti­ful works of art by Den­nis Owusu-An­sah (26) of Jay Z, Ri­hanna, Nicki Mi­naj, Chris Brown, Rick Ross and Diddy show these fa­mous faces dressed in the bright, fab colours and tra­di­tional at­tire of south­ern and west­ern African cul­tural groups. His In­sta­gram page has de­pic­tions of Bey­oncé “Lankenua” Carter draped in tra­di­tional Ma­sai jew­ellery; Mazi Odin­naka Rosey, AKA Rick Ross; Robyn Ri­hanna “Amahle” Fenty in tra­di­tional Zulu dress, in­clud­ing isi­cholo (a Zulu hat); and Nicki “Maame Akua Am­pon­sah” Mi­naj wear­ing head-to-toe kente cloth of Ghana.

Owusu-An­sah de­cided to cre­ate the works of art af­ter he wit­nessed a friend be­ing teased for wear­ing kente. He told OkayAfrica.com: “They had no idea what AFRICAN
