Stella McCartney goes bold

Who said gym clothes have to be boring? The new fitness range from Stella McCartney launched its vibrant, bold-print, 70s-inspired look at Bounce Inc in Midrand last week. This gear is for the young and free-spirited woman who doesn’t want to stick to a strict routine. Her sport and fashion worlds combine in the Adidas StellaSport SS16 range.

The collection is inspired by playful, cool, rainbow-lettering and tie-dye textures. It offers graphicprinted onesies, leggings, tank tops, trainers and accessories using a mixture of colour blocking and bold print. The benchmark onesie was inspired by old-school wrestling silhouettes, which allow total freedom of movement.

The season’s playful tie- dye jacket and colourful shoes, which are ideal for high-intensity training, use breathable fabric and the footwear uses “bounce technology” for cushioning. These are the statement pieces of the collection.

TV presenters Ntokozo Molefe, Tracy-Lee Rosslind and Chanley Wong, along with rapper Gigi Lamayne, looked great in the vibrant gear at the launch. The team showedsh off an energetic range of parkour moves. Sistahood presenter Molefe said: “It was a brilliant experience. I’ve always needed a little inspiration when it comes to exercise. Stella’s launch came at the right time. I love the colours and the designs, and it looks vibrant. When you put on her clothes, you want to run.” – Palesa Morei
