The 36th Businesswoman of the Year Awards, hosted by the Businesswomen’s Association of SA (Bwasa) and sponsored by Sasol, is calling on you to nominate the women around you who inspire and contribute to their communities.

If you are a fabulous businesswoman, why not nominate yourself!

The awards recognise women who are playing their part to uplift the women around them, both in their communities and businesses. Nominees should also be engaged in growing the economy in an equitable way.

This year, Bwasa has added an additional three categories – women in social entrepreneurship, in education and in science.

The original three categories cover women working in the government, corporate and entrepreneurial spaces.

Last year’s winners in their respective categories were: Tembela Kulu, Gauteng provincial manager at the Passenger Rail Agency of SA; Nosipho SiwisaDamasane, the CEO of Richards Bay Coal Terminal; and Lee den Hond, the owner of Blue Platinum Events.

Include the following in the application for nomination:

Why the nominee should be considered in the category; and

What the nominee has achieved in her sphere of influence.

Nominees will need to describe their business objectives, how they have overcome obstacles to success and how they have risen to the challenges they have faced.

The nominee’s values, and how these are reflected in her organisation, will also be assessed, as well as how she has played a part in the success of others.

Entries for this year’s awards close on April 22. The awards take place on August 26. To enter, call 0860 99 9924 / 011 484 4945, or email
