You could have your life pretty much under control, yet still be missing something because you’re searching for love. Happiness Is a Four-letter Word wife of a successful businessman. She reckons that cheating with a married man isn’t cheating. Nandi (Mmabatho Montsho) is about to make partner at a law firm, and is engaged to an entrepreneur, but gets distracted by an ex-lover. Then there’s Princess (Renate Stuurman), who owns an art gallery and is petrified of commitment until she meets a smoothtalking artist.
Everything seems to be a bed of roses, but drama ensues. It is refreshing to see South Africa depicted in a lighter and more romantic way, through which the audience can have a laugh or two, and we can see how modern-day urban women deal with love. The cinematography is exceptional, capturing the energy of the city and the synergy between the women. The Lira soundtrack is the perfect accompaniment.
This is sheer happiness, and a perfect movie to see with friends.
