After retiring from writing about the world of celebrities, Lelo Boyana makes a return to blogging with the launch of her new website, Chica, a fun and positive space created for young African women. It’s a collaborative platform to discuss sisterhood with a team of highly opinionated and brilliant women.

In just one day in its first week, the website recorded almost 20 000 page views from 3 300 unique visitors.

What Boyana has pulled off is that tricky mixture of educational content and fun. Chica explores relationships, career advice for women, travel and lifestyle in a calm, frank way.

Boyana told #Trending she wanted to build a community of women who loved, uplifted and supported other women.

“I think so many of us are living a common story, yet we often feel lonely in our respective journeys. I would like for those lonely souls to form a sisterhood and be in a space that makes them feel like they belong, and one which inspires us to be better leaders, better professionals, better mothers, and better wives and girlfriends.”
