Hospital bills

What is gap cover? Gap cover vs cash plan

CityPress - - Business -

Gap cover can only be taken out if you are a member of a medical scheme, because the payment only relates to the shortfall between a specialist and what the scheme pays out.

Gap cover also only pays for specialist bills in hospital, and doesn’t cover a visit to a specialist for a consultation. Gap cover pays the shortfall of your in-hospital procedure, while a hospital cash plan pays out a predetermined amount for each day that a member is in hospital and is not related to the hospital expenses. Gap cover will pay for any length of stay, while a cash plan usually only pays out from the second or third day in hospital.
