The official Trevor Stuurman hat range follows a capsule collection he worked on earlier this year with Simon and Mary for a charity auction in partnership with Mini Cooper. The foray into hats was a natural one, as he’s come to be known for his stylish headwear. He’s been working with young designers on a lookbook inspired by the late Senegalese photographer Malick Sidibé. “It’s all produced and done by twentysomethings. It’s about creative chemistry, and we were inspired by Sidibé’s makeshift studio to make the most of what little we have, which was more about the creative concept than about budget,” he says.
The other big news, which he’s been keeping mum about and revealed to #Trending this week, is that he is the face of Superga for its Spring/Summer Collection and will be releasing it later this year.
Of the collection, he says: “The inspiration was timeless heritage, and an African summer in brown and navy colours. The textures are leather and canvas.
“This is the second month we’ve been working on the collaboration, and it’s really exciting. I am involved in the planning and selecting of the collection, as well as styling myself for the lookbook.
“So Trevor Stuurman is creative directing, and that’s amazing so far.”
The Superga Trevor Stuurman collection of sneakers will be available later this year
