Tiger Brands’ new chairperson
Khotso Mokhele is set to become Tiger Brands’ chair at the company’s annual general meeting in February.
He joined the Tiger Brands’ board in August 2007.
He is currently chancellor of the University of the Free State.
Mokhele has a BSc in agriculture from Fort Hare University, and an MSc in food science and a PhD in microbiology from the University of California.
He was subsequently a postdoctoral fellow at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore and at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia in the US.
Mokhele is the recipient of honorary doctorates from eight South African universities, including the University of the Free State, and one from Rutgers University in the US.
He was president and CEO of the Foundation for Research Development from 1996 to 1999 and president of the National Research Foundation from 1999 to 2006.
