The Hour of Code takes place in more than 180 coun­tries around the world from De­cem­ber 5 to 11, with about 120 000 events – at least 92 of which are in South Africa.

This global move­ment of­fers one-hour cod­ing tu­to­ri­als in about 45 lan­guages, with no ex­pe­ri­ence or prior knowl­edge of pro­gram­ming re­quired.

Africa Teen Geeks will be tak­ing part in this ini­tia­tive to de­mys­tify com­puter sci­ence and show that any­one can learn the ba­sics of cod­ing.

Visit one-hour in­tro­duc­tory com­puter pro­gram­ming tu­to­ri­als for var­i­ous ages and lev­els, in­clud­ing fun ways to code with Dis­ney’s Frozen and Moana char­ac­ters, Star Wars (“build a galaxy with code”) and Minecraft, as well as cre­at­ing mu­sic, games, emo­jis, an­i­ma­tion, web­pages and greet­ing cards.
