Fe­bru­ary was Lan­guage Month and the Pan South African Lan­guage Board (PanSALB) cel­e­brated the end of their #SpeakItLiveIt cam­paign with the an­nual PanSALB Mul­tilin­gual­ism Awards in Cape Town. Among the par­tic­i­pants were Judge Al­bie Sachs, who gave the in­au­gu­ral lan­guage ad­dress, as well as Min­is­ter of Sport and Re­cre­ation Fik­ile Mbalula and praise poet Jes­sica Mban­geni. Some of the win­ners on the night were Nathi for his al­bum Um­bulelo Wam; Fred Khu­malo for #Zup­tasMustFall and Other Rants; sports com­men­ta­tor Baba Mthethwa; Florence Masebe, who was hon­oured for her con­tri­bu­tion to Tshiv­enda; and Pro­fes­sor E’skia Mphahlele, who was posthu­mously awarded the Chair­man’s Life­time Achieve­ment Award.
