Who is Khoso Mokhele?
Khoso Mokhele joined the Tiger Brands board in August 2007 and on February 21 this year, at the end of the Tiger Brands AGM, he became Tiger Brands chairperson. On March 1, he became chairperson of AECI. He was previously chairperson of Impala Platinum and Adcock Ingram and he is a former nonexecutive of Zimplats. He is a nonexecutive director of African Oxygen, the chairperson of the Hans Merensky Foundation and a nonexecutive director of Hans Merensky Holdings. He has been chancellor of the University of the Free State since June 2010. He is a special adviser to Science and Technology Minister Naledi Pandor. He holds a BSc in agriculture from the University of Fort Hare. He studied at the University of California Davis on the Fulbright-Hays Scholarship Programme and completed an MSc (food science) and a PhD (microbiology). He was president and CEO of the Foundation for Research Development from 1996 to 1999, and from 1999 to 2006 he was president and CEO of the National Research Foundation.
