Eymael gets red card

Luc Eymael has been grounded!

Last week, City Press reported that aggrieved Polokwane City lodged a complaint with the Premier Soccer League regarding the conduct of the Belgian mentor.

This was after the coach had resigned in a huff and joined Bloemfontein Celtic the following day.

Now, the league has refused to register Eymael until his matter with City has been resolved.

As a result, the coach was barred from shouting instructions from Celtic’s bench during yesterday’s league game against Cape Town City. The case was postponed to March 31. Interestingly, if the Belgian wins his cases, his first match in charge of Celtic will be against the same City on April 1.

A dejected Celtic chief executive Khumbulani Konco confirmed they were dealt a blow by the outcome of the sitting on Friday.

Konco said they would stick with caretaker coach Lehlohonolo Seema until Eymael was registered with the league.

A City insider said the team still regarded Eymael as their coach as it had not terminated his contract.
