Molefe out of Eskom ... again
The Eskom board has finally heeded calls from many quarters, including a direct instruction from Public Enterprises Minister Lynne Brown, to drop Brian Molefe as its CEO.
Chairperson Ben Ngubane issued a a statement on Friday evening announcing that the board had “given effect to the minister’s directive to rescind its decision to reinstate Brian Molefe as group chief executive”.
According to the statement, the directive, sent to the board earlier this week, ordered that the board’s decision to reinstate Molefe earlier in the month be reversed.
“Molefe is no longer the group CEO of Eskom and will no longer serve as a director on the board of Eskom,” the statement read.
