“Tell no lies; claim no easy victories.” This is the mantra appropriated by political elites from late west African leader Amilcar Cabral. He said it to exhort freedom fighters, but our MPs use it to slay each other.
On Thursday, ANC MP and deputy minister Buti Manamela tried to highlight the achievements of the ANC government, saying there were now 900 000 university enrolments, mostly by black students – unlike in 1976, when there were fewer than 100 black students. But EFF MPs retorted that in 1976, there were 350 students at the University of the North (now Limpopo University).
