Be a book sprite and spread reading joy

CityPress - - Voices -

You may be lucky and stumble upon a book tucked in a pavement nook or hidden in a statue’s hands, with a green and white sticker which reads: “Take this book, read it and leave it for the next person to enjoy.”

If so, you are one of many people across the world to have happened upon the global phenomenon of book fairies.

The Book Fairies, a movement which serves as a universal public lending library, was launched in March. Its aim is to encourage bibliophiles to read and share their own books, second-hand or new. Actress Emma Watson, best known for having portrayed Hermione in the Harry Potter hit movie franchise, is an avid recruit. She recently hid 100 books around Paris, completing her transition from witty wizard to real-life, free-spirited fairy.

The movement is taking off here too and if you want to be a part of it, visit ibelieveinbookfairies.com to order your own stickers to attach to your book donations.
