27 Sandy Hook Ele­men­tary School, 2012

Twenty-year-old Adam Lanza fa­tally shot 20 chil­dren and six adult staff mem­bers. Prior to driv­ing to the school, he shot and killed his mother at their home. Lanza com­mit­ted sui­cide by shoot­ing him­self in the head.

9 Rose­burg, Ore­gon, 2015

Christo­pher Sean Harper-Mercer shot and killed nine peo­ple, and in­jured an­other nine at Um­pqua Com­mu­nity Col­lege in Rose­burg, Ore­gon. Harper-Mercer died af­ter a gun bat­tle with po­lice at the col­lege.

14 San Ber­nadino, Cal­i­for­nia, 2015

Syed Rizwan Fa­rook and Tash­feen Ma­lik killed 14 and in­jured 22 in an at­tack con­sist­ing of a mass shoot­ing and an at­tempted bomb­ing at the In­land Re­gional Cen­tre.

9 Charleston, South Carolina, 2015

Dy­lann Roof (21) shot and killed nine peo­ple inside the his­toric Emanuel African Methodist Epis­co­pal Church. Roof was ar­rested. He con­fessed and told in­ves­ti­ga­tors he wanted to start a race war.

49 Pulse night­club, Florida, 2016

Omar Ma­teen, a 29-year-old se­cu­rity guard, killed 49 peo­ple and wounded 58 oth­ers in a ter­ror­ist at­tack­hate crime inside Pulse, a gay night­club in Or­lando. He was shot and killed by the po­lice.
