Pension denied for man who married great-aunt
Argentinian Mauricio Ossola, who married his great-aunt in 2015 – he was 23, she was 91 – has vowed to go to the highest court in the land to prove he should get a widower’s pension after social services rejected his application.
Ossola claimed it was Yolanda Torres’ “last wish” to marry him – 14 months before she died from sepsis – and said the marriage was perfectly legal according to Argentinian law.
But authorities rejected his pension application after his neighbours told investigators they knew nothing about the marriage.
In a ruling this week, the social security system stated that it believed Ossola was seeking, through legal subterfuge, to obtain a widower’s pension he was not really entitled to.
