Gauteng Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi has done it again. On Friday, he announced that Honeywell, a company that manufactures major parts for aeroplanes, such as autopilot communications systems and brakes, has agreed to train 400 Grade 5 township pupils and prepare them for the aviation world. As the late Brenda Fassie would say, higher and higher! We know that Gautrain strives to provide an exceptional, reliable and comfortable experience, but they take themselves way too seriously. Their refusal to allow a person dressed in Ndebele regalia to board a train because he was dressed “inappropriately” was a shocking indictment of their perception of culture and decency.
