Beautiful design should be for everyone, not just the rich.

Condé Nast House & Garden - - INSIGHT -

since 2013 I have been working on a placemaking project that I initiated with the City of Johannesburg and the Passenger rail association of south africa and architect david adjaye at Jo’burg’s main transport hub, Park station. an element of the project is an urban pavilion providing a place of arrival and welcome, a place for art performances and installations. Yet there were some who believed the project should be moved to sandton as the project would be better appreciated there. They missed the point of the project, and that forms a part of the problem with placemaking efforts in south african cities.
