This was a very valu­able les­son that I learned while en­gag­ing with david ad­jaye on the pavil­ion project. “re­cast” build­ings that rep­re­sent the ex­clu­siv­ity of colo­nial­ism into a cul­tural in­fra­struc­ture for the broader pub­lic. Projects should seek not to ig­nore the city’s his­tory but to ac­tively re­script it and build on it un­til they be­gin to tell a story that re­flects the di­ver­sity and in­clu­siv­ity that de­fine the city’s iden­tity.
