Debunking Makeup Myths

Cosmopolitan (South Africa) - - BEAUTY -

Myth #1

Primers and moisturisers work in the same way.

Both are hydrating – but moisturisers absorb into skin to hydrate it, while primers sit on top of skin to provide a smooth base for makeup application.

Myth #2

Foundation colour should be tested on the wrist.

The wrist is one of the lightest parts on your body, so it isn’t ideal for foundation matching. The best place to colour-test is along the jawline.

Myth #3

Wearing makeup can cause break-outs.

Products aren’t always the culprits – poor storage and lack of hygiene are. To prevent breakouts, wash brushes and sponges regularly. And chuck old makeup!
