Q I was looking at buying the new Polo, but I see there is also a new Polo Vivo available. What’s the dierence, and which is better?

The main di erence between the new Polo and Polo Vivo is price. They compete in di erent segments: the Polo competes with the Ford Fiesta, Kia Rio, Renault Clio and Toyota Yaris; the Polo Vivo competes with more budget-friendly rivals such as the Renault Sandero, Suzuki Swift and Ford Figo. The Polo Vivo replaced the much-loved Citi Golf as Volkswagen’s budget o ering. It has remained the top-selling car in South Africa since it launched in 2010.

The new Vivo is based on the ‰ifthgeneration Polo, so you can expect really great quality and comfort. You just need to decide on your budget. The Vivo starts at R179’900 and goes up to R245’000 for the top-of-therange GT, which has loads of features such as leather seats and a touch-screen infotainment system. The Polo starts at R235’900 for the entry-level model and goes up to R302’200. With the Vivo packing value-for-money, I say Vivo all the way!
