LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION

Steroids tend to increase the size of the muscles around the shoulder joints. That means lats, traps, pecs and deltoids. There’s even a lingo for this bulkiness: it’s called being ‘yoked’.

DAMNED SPOTS

Steroids typically induce acne – more speci‹ically, bacne – because they cause hormonal changes, which lead the body to promote a build-up of sebum in the skin. A sudden break-out on the shoulders or upper back is a possible red ‹lag.

INTO THE DEEP

Watch out for a sudden change of voice. Anabolicandrogenic steroids (AAS) thicken your vocal chords, deepening the voice. The muscles around the jaw also become more de‹ined.

KING OF THE SWINGERS

Mood swings, extreme irritability, appetite shifts, nervousness and insomnia are all common. Look out for a sudden change in temperament.
