What to Do if Someone You Know Is Struggling

Cosmopolitan (South Africa) - - REPORT -

Talk to them about it.

If you think that a friend is depressed, ask her how she’s feeling. It’s okay to bring it up – you won’t give her any harmful ideas. Knowing that you care will be huge in her world.

Don’t keep it a secret.

Even if you promised you wouldn’t tell a soul about what’s going on, if anyone you know is talking about suicide, you have to tell someone. It’s a matter of life and death.

Ask for help.

It’s not your sole responsibility to keep a person alive. If you don’t know someone who can give you guidance, reach out to SADAG for advice on how to help a friend who may be suicidal.
