Life in prison for woman’s rapist, killer

RAPIST and murderer Simamkele “Lolo” Zinto, 24, was sentenced to life imprisonment this week.

Three other men arrested with him died in prison, two from illness and one who was stabbed to death.

Zinto has been awaiting trial since 2013.

He was convicted in the East London regional court yesterday, said East London police spokesman Mluleki Mbi.

Mbi said Zinto was one of three who raped and murdered a 54-year-old woman from Khayalitsha, Reeston in 2013.

“The four dragged the victim outside of her Khayelitsha house in Reeston, and stabbed her several times before discarding her body in a nearby river,” said Mbi. — mbalit@dispatch.
