four months to go to the Ironman 70.3,” said Tribal director Cillian Ryan.

“We had a phenomenal amount of entries at the last event, just shy of 100 entrants.

“This weekend’s event also marks the start of the Team Challenge, where local clubs, companies and acquaintances can race in a relay team over the distances.”

The first race was only competed over the mini and sprint distances, while with the addition of the Olympic distance for Sunday’s event should bring even more competitors in for the race.

Last month’s winners will be back this weekend and should find a stiffer challenge this time round with even more top talent expected on the start line.

“Bradley Birkholtz and Danieke de Kock will be back to defend their titles, with Brad moving up to the Olympic distance,” said Ryan.

On the men’s side other names to keep an eye out for include Travis Saunders, Robert Green and Darryl Koekemoer, while on the women’s front Roxy Ward, Lindy Collins and Clio Bax should all be in the mix.

With this the second race of the four-race series, two more events are planned for November and December, with the same distances to be competed next month and the ultra-distance to be introduced in December.

Overall winners will be announced for the entire series based on times across all four races.

Entries for this weekend’s race can still be found online until noon today and in store at Tribal until 3.30pm tomorrow.

“The early entries have already far exceeded expectations and we are looking forward to a fantastic event,” claimed Ryan.

Registration will take place at Tribal tomorrow from 8am to 3.30pm and a Tribal Tri-Series Race 2 mug will be up for grabs for the first 90 entrants to have registered either online or in store.

Sunday’s race gets under way at the Orient Beach at 7am, with transition open from 6am, and the race should be completed by midday.
