Light snow fore­cast for Tiffind­ell

Light snow­fall is again ex­pected to blan­ket the moun­tains of the East­ern Cape‚ Drak­ens­berg and Le­sotho on Satur­day.

“A small weather sys­tem will de­posit a light snow­fall up to 5cm across the moun­tains around Tiffind­ell in the East­ern Cape from late Fri­day‚ in­clud­ing the pos­si­bil­ity of [snow] on the Barkly Pass,” Snow Re­port SA said.

“In the early hours of Satur­day morn­ing, the high peaks on the cen­tral Drak­ens­berg and Le­sotho will get be­tween 10cm and 20cm of snow.”

Mean­while, disas­ter man­age­ment teams were placed on standby with the pos­si­bil­ity of heavy rain and hail in KwaZu­luNatal on Fri­day.

SA Weather Ser­vice fore­caster Ezekiel Se­bego said: “On Satur­day‚ thun­der­storm ac­tiv­i­ties are ex­pected to per­sist over [cen­tral and east­ern SA], with a fur­ther risk of se­vere storms over east­ern parts of North West‚ north and east­ern Free State‚ Gaut­eng and western Mpumalanga.”
