Search for Peruvian Air Force helicopter
PERUVIAN authorities said they were looking for a Peruvian Air Force (FAP) helicopter that went missing in the north of the country on Tuesday.
The Soviet-made Mi-17 chopper left Urakuza, in northern Peru’s Amazonas region, at about 12.50am carrying aid to the nearby community of Chija but did not reach its destination, the FAP said.
“Four FAP personnel were on board the aircraft, but it has not yet been possible to determine if there are human losses because there is no information about it,” FAP spokesperson Wolfgang Grozo was cited by daily El Comercio as saying.
FAP said that special search and rescue team were en-route to the area to help locate the helicopter.
