Long-winded gas probe lasts 17 hours
BERLIN: At least 23 police in Berlin spent more than 17 hours attempting to prosecute a man who farted in front of a policewoman, the city’s parliament confirmed yesterday.
The sizeable police workforce was deployed to prosecute the man who allegedly farted twice in front of a policewoman in February last year while his personal details were being checked. A police group leader deemed the man’s flatulence as offensive and charged him, and just under a year later, he received a fine of more than $1 060 (about R14 000).
The man contested the fine and had to appear in court in September.
The judge threw the case out in just minutes, Germany’s Berliner Kurier newspaper reported.
