Business project launched
THE DEPUTY director general of the Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP), Stanley Henderson, launched the EPWP development project to support small businesses earlier this week.
Henderson said that eight out of a total of 27 identified small businesses in the Northern Cape were already receiving assistance through this programme in the form of skills, training, access to start-up capital and the provision of equipment and machinery, to the value of R1 million.
“Through the Department of Small Business Development, the National Youth Development Agency, training SETAs, municipalities, agricultural partners, provincial and national government assistance will be provided to co-operatives and small businesses to enable them to enter the retail markets,” said Henderson.
He pointed out that the programme was designed to kick-start businesses.
“Employment should not end once a government project is completed.”
