Motorsport en­thu­si­asts from across cen­tral South Africa were not dis­ap­pointed as Kim­ber­ley hosted its first in­stall­ment of Ride2Slide’s Bat­tle of the Prov­inces Royal Rum­ble.

This inter-pro­vin­cial, team com­pe­ti­tion saw the top 10 driv­ers from the North­ern Cape, Free State and North West go head-to-head in a se­ries of show­downs that kept the hundreds in at­ten­dance glued to their seats.

This week­end’s event, at the Galeshewe Open Air Arena, also set the tone for a feast of spin­ning over the Easter Week­end next year, when Kim­ber­ley will host the na­tional spin­ning cham­pi­onships with the top prov­inces and driv­ers al­ready mak­ing ev­ery ef­fort to rack up points in the early rounds as they as­pire for top hon­ours next year.

Team NC’s cap­tain, Chan Obaray, de­liv­ered on his prom­ise that his team will be bring­ing their A-game and that they will be putting their hearts on the line. Af­ter a gru­elling bat­tle, burn­ing tyres and thick smoke hang­ing over the arena, Team NC took first place in the round-robin com­pe­ti­tion.
