A 22-YEAR-OLD Bea­cons­field man sped off in his car af­ter knock­ing down a teenager be­cause he was scared a group of by­standers would as­sault him, he told the Kim­ber­ley Re­gional Court yes­ter­day be­fore he was fined R6 000 (or 18 months im­pris­on­ment) for cul­pa­ble homi­cide. Car­pen­ter, Martin Julius King, of 56 Fred­er­ick Place, was rep­re­sented by Mr JJ Bothma.
