Buf­falo puts man in hospi­tal

A 63-YEAR-old man has been ad­mit­ted to hospi­tal with se­ri­ous in­juries af­ter he was gored by a buf­falo on a farm out­side Kim­ber­ley yes­ter­day morn­ing.

Willem Roux, 63, suf­fered a bro­ken tibia and “mas­sive blood loss” af­ter be­ing at­tacked by a buf­falo on a farm be­tween Kim­ber­ley and Mod­der River yes­ter­day morn­ing.

Ac­cord­ing to re­ports, Roux was in the process of of­fload­ing buf­falo from a truck when one of the an­i­mals charged him. One of the horns pen­e­trated his leg.

Roux was ap­par­ently rushed to Kim­ber­ley on the back of a bakkie and was trans­ferred to an Emer-G-Med am­bu­lance along the way. He was then trans­ported to Gariep Medi­clinic.

Hospi­tal spokesper­son, Denise Coet­zee, yes­ter­day af­ter­noon said that Roux was in a sta­ble con­di­tion and was sched­uled to go into theatre af­ter suf­fer­ing a bro­ken tibia.
