Buffalo puts man in hospital
A 63-YEAR-old man has been admitted to hospital with serious injuries after he was gored by a buffalo on a farm outside Kimberley yesterday morning.
Willem Roux, 63, suffered a broken tibia and “massive blood loss” after being attacked by a buffalo on a farm between Kimberley and Modder River yesterday morning.
According to reports, Roux was in the process of offloading buffalo from a truck when one of the animals charged him. One of the horns penetrated his leg.
Roux was apparently rushed to Kimberley on the back of a bakkie and was transferred to an Emer-G-Med ambulance along the way. He was then transported to Gariep Mediclinic.
Hospital spokesperson, Denise Coetzee, yesterday afternoon said that Roux was in a stable condition and was scheduled to go into theatre after suffering a broken tibia.
