‘Medals will come’

OR­LANDO Pi­rates left-back, In­no­cent Maele, is con­fi­dent they will soon end their tro­phy drought.

Pi­rates go­ing through a bar­ren of sil­ver­wares. The Bu­can­neers haven’t lifted the cup since 2014.

In 2014, Pi­rates lifted the Ned­bank Cup at the ex­pense of Bid­vest Wits. They came close in 2015 as they suc­cumbed to a 1-0 de­feat against Kaizer Chiefs in the fi­nal of the MTN8.


Last sea­son, Pi­rates, fin­ished sec­ond on the log be­hind the cham­pi­ons, Mamelodi Sun­downs, and Maele is still search­ing for his maiden win­ner’s medal in top flight foot­ball.

“I’m work­ing hard with my team­mates to make sure we make our sup­port­ers happy and make them proud by win­ning a tro­phy, bear­ing in mind that a lot of us haven’t won any­thing in our ca­reers. We are look­ing for­ward to win some­thing this sea­son, “Maele ex­plained.

Maele has been piv­otal for Pi­rates since re­turn­ing from his loan spell at Thanda Royal Zulu.

He is also ex­pected to play a big role when the Bu­can­neers com­mence their African ad­ven­ture at the end of Novem­ber, in the Caf Cham­pi­ons League.
