I WANT TO GO TOO!

DO I NEED A 4X4? No, you can do this route in a sedan with good ground clearance if you drive carefully. The pass to Gamkaskloof is however much more comfortable in a bakkie or soft-roader.

WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO GO? Autumn and spring, when temperatures are milder.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING? Camping gear, wood and everything else you want to eat and drink. The cottages in Anysberg and Gamkaskloof Nature Reserve have solar power, gas stoves and well-equipped kitchens.

WHERE CAN I FILL UP NEARBY? Montagu, Calitzdorp, Oudtshoorn or Prins Albert.

HOW MUCH TIME DO I NEED? Anysberg is 3,5 hours (250 km) from Cape Town. From Oudtshoorn you can drive down to Gamkaskloof and back in a day. It is therefore the ideal destination for a long weekend as well as longer visits to truly appreciate the isolation.
