South Africa has featured prominently in the contest, and recently the BMW GS Trophy South Africa 2018 men’s team was announced after a gruelling two day South African National Qualifier event at Country TRAX (an official off-road training partner of BMW Motorrad) in Amersfoort, Mpumalanga. Riders from all regions were confronted with significant physical and mental challenges on gravel, sand and mud to compete individually for a place in the top three.

Ultimately, the three best riders from the national qualifier were selected and will represent South Africa on a mission to defend the title at the International GS Trophy in 2018 in Mongolia.
