Fol­low­ing the re­lease of the 2018 Nis­san Leaf, Car­los Ghosn, chair­man and CEO of the Al­liance (Re­nault, Nis­san and Mit­subishi Mo­tors), an­nounced a new strate­gic plan to strengthen co­op­er­a­tion and ac­cel­er­ate use of com­mon plat­forms, pow­er­trains and new tech­nolo­gies be­tween the three Al­liance mem­bers. Un­der the ban­ner of Al­liance 2022, the strat­egy stip­u­lates:

• 12 new pure elec­tric ve­hi­cles to be

launched by 2022

• A new fam­ily of EV mo­tor and bat­ter­ies to

be in­tro­duced from 2020, shared across

the mem­ber com­pa­nies

• More than 600 km EV range reached

by 2022

• 30% de­crease in bat­tery cost from 2016

to 2022

• 15 min­utes charg­ing time to de­liver range of 230 km by 2022, up from 90 km in 2016

• Adop­tion of Mit­subishi Mo­tors’ new Plug-in Hy­brid Elec­tric Ve­hi­cle (PHEV) tech­nol­ogy as the com­mon C/D seg­ment PHEV so­lu­tion by 2022
